Liberal jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the opening gamer of a double header with Woodward but had to battle back from a 6-4 deficit to earn a 7-6 win. Woodward dominated Game 2, 15-0.

Trailing 6-4 in the sixth, the Bulldogs took advantage of Woodward mistakes to score three runs. Woodward had the tying run at third, but Liberal catcher Lorenzo Pando fielded a wild pitch and threw to Leverett for the final out at home.

“We found a way to come back,” Liberal coach Eric Olmstead said. “The kids showed some determination and didn’t give up.”

Liberal will travel to Hooker today for a double header with the Horny Toads.
